Safe wastewater disposal in the Berlin subway

The extensive construction project "U5 Gap Closure" by the Berlin Transport Company (BVG) has been successfully completed, connecting the residents of Berlin more closely. This was akin to open-heart surgery for the capital: The 2.2-kilometer tunnel under the historic center of Berlin, along with the new stations, now significantly relieves traffic pressure in the city center. This large-scale project was supported by Wilo's premium solutions for wastewater and sewage disposal in and between the stations.

The construction work involved not only tunneling but also complex technical installations and careful planning to avoid compromising the historical structures. The new stations offer modern and barrier-free access, enhancing passenger comfort. Additionally, they contribute to urban development and better connectivity of the city center.

"Reliable building technology is particularly important in underground environments," explains Wilo sales consultant Henning Rockrohr. "The track bed, escalators, and of course, the sanitary facilities generate wastewater and sewage. And that's where we come in." The entire pump technology for wastewater disposal and drainage is provided by Wilo, ensuring that wastewater and sewage are efficiently and safely disposed of. This is especially important in high-traffic areas like subway stations, where continuous and secure operations must be guaranteed.

KAZ Minerals: The Largest Copper producer in Kazakhstan

KAZ Minerals is the largest copper producer in Kazakhstan and makes a significant contribution to modern infrastructure. The Aktogay mine is a large-scale open-pit mine, similar to the Bozshakol mine. It began production with the manufacture of copper cathodes from oxide ore. Narmada Malwa, India - Fighting water shortage

Agriculture serves as the backbone of the Indian economy, with much of its practices still reliant on the monsoon rains. The primary objective of the Narmada-Malwa-Ghambhir Link Project is to address water scarcity in the upper reaches of the Chambal basin, where irrigation levels stand at a mere 5.54 per cent of the cultivable area. This project aims to provide irrigation facilities to approximately 50,000 hectares of Command Area (CCA) in the Malwa region's Indore and Ujjain districts, while also supplying water for domestic and industrial use. This initiative directly benefits over 150 villages. Alvear Tower, Argentina - Water under pressure

The Alvear Tower stands at a remarkable height of 235 meters, making it the tallest residential tower in Argentina and a pivotal landmark in the City of Buenos Aires. This mixed-use development comprises numerous condominiums alongside a luxurious five-star hotel. Addressing a significant challenge posed by the building's height, engineers devised an innovative solution to manage water distribution without relying on excessively high-pressure booster sets. This was accomplished by implementing intermediate brake tanks at various intervals within the structure, strategically positioned to receive water from multistage vertical pumps. These brake tanks effectively regulate water flow, ensuring consistent supply to different floors of the tower. Central Bank campus is a green building, certified by BREEAM, the world’s leading sustainability assessment method. The bank itself had set a number of objectives when it came to the sustainability of the building – one of the main requirements was to only provide high-efficient pumps with efficiency class IE4 to ensure compliance with BREEAM criteria. Moos, Germany - innovative waterworks

The innovative waterworks in Moos, Bavaria, is one of the most modern waterworks in Europe.

Thanks to the softening process of the waterworks, it is possible to supply 15 communities in the Bavarian Forest with soft forest water. Up to 400 cubic metres per hour are fed into the networks. The goal of the waterworks is to further strengthen the security of supply of healthy drinking water for the people in Eastern Bavaria. Wilo has supplied the waterworks in Moos with 67 pumps to guarantee this clean drinking water supply. The Wilo pumps that are installed at the waterworks in Moos are the Wilo-Zetos, Wilo CronoBloc BL, Wilo-Helix VE and Wilo-Multivert MVI.

The Plovdici dam in Bulgaria provides clean drinking water to almost 40,000 residents in 30 populated areas of Rudozem, Madan Region and Central Rhodopi.

"Plovdici" is the first drinking water dam built in Bulgaria in almost 30 years and equipped with a modern drinking water treatment plant. The installation and all its technologies provide users with better water service. Wilo Bulgaria was chosen as the main supplier of pumping equipment for all technological processes, domestic needs and fire protection needs. The products for this facility are the Wilo-SiBoost Smart 3HELIX VE, Wilo-NL pumps and Wilo-Comfort CO-2 Helix V.
